Job Description

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) is responsible for providing care, support and companionship for our clients so that they can continue to live independently in their home and age in place, as opposed to transitioning to a nursing home. Duties may include the following

​

  • Assists the client with personal care including bathing, dressing, and grooming

  • Meal planning, meal prep and cooking

  • Light housekeeping, including washing dishes, sweeping, mopping, dusting and cleaning the bathroom

  • Taking out the trash

  • Doing the laundry

  • Transporting client to run errands

  • Medication reminders

  • Doctor's appointment reminders

  • Other duties as necessary

  • Following the client's personalized care plan

  • Documenting all tasks completed and observations in client notes

Job Requirements

​

  • Must have patience, compassion & a sincere desire to help and nurture others

  • Must be reliable, punctual and accountable

  • Must be coachable and desire to develop professional caregiving skills

  • Caregiving experienced preferred, but not required

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Must have a valid negative TB test

  • Must be willing to obtain a CPR certification 

  • Must pass a national criminal background check with fingerprints

  • Must have a valid drivers license for most assignments

  • Must be able read, speak and write in English 

  • Must have an internet connected mobile device

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted

  • Must be competent to provide services according to the individual's plan of care

  • Must live in our service area of Indianapolis, Indiana and surrounding counties

  • Must successfully complete our PCA training or have sufficient prior experience

  • Must successfully pass a PCA competency exam
